Son yıllarda başta gelişmiş kapitalist ülkeler olmak üzere dünya nüfusunun yaşlanması ile birlikte toplam hastalık yükü içerisinde kronik hastalıkların ağırlığıyla birlikte sağlık harcamaları da artmaktadır. Bu olgu karşısında sağlık hizmetlerinin görece daha ucuz olduğu ülkeler sağlık turizmi kapsamında ziyaret edilmektedir. Dünyada yükselen pazar olarak lanse edilen sağlık turizmi, 10. Kalkınma Planı kapsamında Sağlık Endüstrilerinde Yapısal Dönüşüm Programı ile birlikte devletin resmi belgelerine bir yatırım alanı olarak girmiştir. Makalede sağlık turizminin bileşenleri olan medikal turizm, termal turizm, ileri yaştakilere yönelik bakım ve rehabilitasyon hizmetlerinin Türkiye’deki güncel durumu, sağlık otoritesinin hedef ve beklentileriyle uyumu ve sürmekte olan Kamu-Özel Ortaklığı projeleriyle ilişkisi değerlendirilmiştir.

In recent years, along with the aging of the world population, especially the developed capitalist countries, the health expenditures are increasing together with the weight of chronic diseases within total illness burden. In the face of this phenomenon, countries where health services are relatively cheaper are being visited within the scope of health tourism. Health tourism, which has been launched as an emerging market in the world, has entered into the government’s off icial documents as an investment area together with the Structural Transformation Program in the Health Industry within the scope of the 10th National Plan. It has been assessed that the components of health tourism, medical tourism, thermal tourism, care and rehabilitation services for elderly people in Turkey are related to the current situation in Turkey, compatibility with the health authorities’ targets and expectations, and ongoing Public- Private Partnership projects.
