Meksika dünyanın en kötü etkilenen ülkeleri arasında yer almıştır. Şubat 2021itibarıyla, toplam 1.946.751 doğrulanmış olgu, 168.432 ölüm varken, fatalite %9 civarındadır. Pandeminin başından beri Meksika Hükümeti, virüsün yayılmasına, yalnızca şiddetli semptomlulara müdahale edilmesine ve salgının sonraki aşamalara hızla ilerlemesine izin veren bir strateji izlemiştir. Bu da ülkede zaten var olan sağlık sistemi eksikliklerini, eşitsizlikleri ve salgına yanıt için hazırlık eksikliğini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Pandemi müdahalesi konusunda geç kalınmış, pandemi yönetimiyle sorumlu kurumlar çalıştırılmamış, yürütülen hizmetler konusunda eyalet ve federal düzeyde farklılıklar ortaya çıkmıştır. Bütün bunların sonunda; olgu sayıları yüksek kalmış, sağlık çalışanlarının yükü çok artmış, etkilenen nüfus açısından eşitsizlikler oluşmuş, ekonomik ve sosyal sorunlar derinleşmiştir.

Mexico is one of the most corona-affected country in the world. As of February 2021, there were 1,946,751 confirmed cases, 168,432 deaths, while the fatality rate was approximately 9%. Since the onset of the pandemic, the Mexican government has followed a strategy that let the virus spread, responding to only those with severe symptoms, and allowing the outbreak to progress rapidly to later stages.This has revealed already existing health system shortcomings, inequalities, and a lack of pandemic preparedness and response. Pandemic response was delayed, agencies responsible for pandemic management were not operated, and state and federal differences emerged in terms of services provided.As a result of all these, the number of cases remained high, the burden of healthcare workers increased, inequalities occurred in terms of the affected population, and economic and social problems have deepened.
