Kadın sağlığını belirleyen faktörler sadece biyolojik değil, fiziksel, kültürel ve toplumsal çevre koşullarına göre değişerek kadınların sağlık ve iyilik halini belirleyen geniş kapsamlı konuları içermektedir. Kadınlar, patriyarkal yapı dolayısıyla geleneksel toplumsal cinsiyet normlarından temel alan rollerin ve sorumlulukların yükü nedeniyle ekonomik bağımsızlık, gelir düzeyi, istihdam, eğitim, çalışma yaşamına ve kararlara katılım gibi konularda, erkeklere göre daha büyük engellerle, dolayısıyla sağlıklarını olumsuz etkileyen sorunlarla karşılaşmaktadır. Bu derlemede Cumhuriyet döneminde Türkiye’de kadın sağlığı konusu, bu bütünlük içerisinde ele alınarak kadının statüsünü, dolayısıyla sağlığını etkilediği düşünülen uluslararası ve ulusal önemli gelişmeleri de içerecek şekilde kronolojik olarak beş dönemde ele alınarak incelenmiş ve sağlık göstergelerinden yararlanılarak günümüzdeki durumu tartışılmıştır. 

The factors that determine women’s health are not only biological, but also vary according to physical, cultural and social environmental conditions, and include comprehensive issues that determine the health and well-being of women. Due to the burden of roles and responsibilities based on traditional gender norms due to the patriarchal structure, women face greater obstacles than men in matters such as economic independence, income level, employment, education, participation in working life and decisions, and therefore problems that negatively affect their health. In this review, the issue of women’s health in Turkey during the Republican period was examined in its entirety, chronologically in five periods, including important international and national developments that were thought to affect women’s status and therefore their health, and its current situation was discussed using health indicators.
