Summary

  • Medical education has undergone substantial evolution since the early 20th century, driven by scientific discoveries, societal needs, and the advencement of health care services. This process of change has been guided by a series of declarations and reports that have proposed reforms in medical education. This paper examines the major declarations and reports that have shaped medical education from 1900 to the present and analyzes the principles and recommendations set forth in these documents. By tracing the historical progression, the study examines the impact of these declerations and reports on reforms in healthcare services and educational programs. The common goal of these declarations and reports has always been to improve the quality of medical education. Each report or declaration proposed strategies that reflected the needs of their respective eras. Over time, medical education has evolved from a science-based framework to approaches that emphasize interprofessional collaboration and social responsibility. Despite the different strategies proposed, the enduring emphasis of these reports has been the preservation of professional standards and honor. Today, this is reflected in the concept of “good medical practice,” which continues to maintain its importance and priority over years.
